This is when a thin layer of tooth-coloured material, usually porcelain, is fitted over a discoloured or irregular shaped tooth. Excellent aesthetic results with minimum tooth destruction.
When a tooth has become discoloured, damaged or decayed, but does not need a crown, a veneer can mask the visual disfigurement. Veneers can also be used to cover irregularly shaped or misaligned teeth. Like crowns, veneers are often made from porcelain, however unlike crowns, they are normally fitted solely to improve the look of someone's smile and don't require large areas of healthy tooth to be removed. Often patients only need one or two Veneers to make a dramatic improvement to their overall smile.
