Child Dental Care
Caring for your children’s teeth, and teaching them how to care for their teeth can have a long lasting positive impact on their dental health in the future.
Regularly cleaning your children’s teeth is both good for their health, and also for teaching them the proper brushing technique. However, make sure that you are using the correct amount of toothpaste for your child. You should be supervising your child in brushing their teeth as often as possible.
Most children will need braces at some point. One of the causes of children needing Orthodontic treatment is thumb sucking. The action of this puts pressure on the jaw and causes the mouth to narrow. As well as causing alignment problems, this can also cause a lisp.
You can prevent your child from sucking their thumb via gentle persuasion and self-awareness. You shouldn’t force your child to stop, as thumb sucking can be a soothing activity that reduces anxiety.
The best way to make sure your child’s teeth are healthy is to visit your local dentist and get a professional opinion. Children get free health care on the NHS.
Have you heard of Invisalign? This Orthodontic treatment can straighten your teeth without getting in the way of your smile!
These Invisible Braces are as effective as traditional braces, and nearly invisible clear aligners. The transparent aligners are custom made for your teeth using moulds. This means that they are both comfortable and discrete.
Not only this, but they are also removable! Allowing you to eat all the foods that traditional braces make difficult. Cleaning the aligners is much easier than traditional braces.
Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Dentistry is on the rise, and is causing lots of people more trouble than their problem required. People who are pulling their teeth out, or using rubber bands to correct their teeth are causing more damage to their mouth than good.
If you have a toothache, a loose tooth or are unhappy with your smile, visit your local practice and talk to your dentist. They can provide professional and experienced service, and recommend the best treatment for you.
We believe that hard work should be recognised and appreciated. That’s why we have our Smile Award, to reward the member of staff that made the biggest impact on our patients’ smiles!
Thank you to both Lorna from our Kings Heath practice (left), and Donna from our Northfield practice (right) for bringing smiles to our patients.
