Will Porcelain Veneers Work For Me?
There are different ways to approach finding your ideal smile, and veneers are one of the most simple and straightforward. Part of MSC's cosmetic treatments range, our veneers are an easy way to give a smile a cosmetic boost. Due to the simple nature of the procedure, having veneers treatment will not place great demands on your time, leaving you all the time you need to carry on with your normal routine without distraction.
Sometimes finding a solution which suits you can be more difficult than it may first seem. Here at MSC we always like to provide a patient with the treatment that they wish to have, however it is important to be aware that there are many ways in which to adjust and create a smile that you can love. This is why we ask our patients to first attend a consultation with one of our experienced team, so you can be sure this treatment is going to give you the results you are looking for.
This will often be perceived by patients as 'upselling', but this is simply not the case. Finding the correct selection of treatments that can give your smile the best results is our true aim. Keep an open mind as there's plenty of treatments out there that can give you a great result, and our dentists can help you on your journey to your ideal smile.
How Durable Are Porcelain Veneers?
The durability of veneers is often questioned by patents who are looking to undergo this treatment, and understandably after the time and expenses involved, you want to know that your smile will last for a long time. Porcelain veneers are built in order to last, with an average lifespan of 10 - 15 years. However, if you do not look after your veneers the lifespan will decrease. Looking after your dental veneers is much like looking after your own teeth, so maintaining your regular cleaning routine and habits is very important.
Dental veneers can be made from numerous materials, each with its own pros and cons. Porcelain veneers are often used due to their fantastic finish, and simple yet effective process.
How Much do Veneers Cost?
The price of veneers often differs from practice to practice and can even change depending on the dentist providing the treatment. At Midlands Smile Centres, our dental veneers start at £410. Prices depend on the amount of work required to give you the smile you’re looking for.
|Type of Treatment||Smile Plan Price||Normal Price|
|Veneers (each)||£369 to £796.50||£410 to £885|
The Veneers Process: Step by Step
The process involved in dental veneers is simple regardless of which form of treatment you go for. This means that whether you choose composite veneers, porcelain veneers or other products such as E-max, the process used is generally the same.
The process is usually spaced between several appointments, the first of which is a consultation to examine and determine whether veneers are the right treatment for you. This stage is important as it helps to ensure that the treatment we provide you will not only help you reach your desired look, but also that the treatment offers beneficial functionality to your smile.
After you have completed your veneers consultation there will often be a small gap between appointments so that your veneers can be designed and created. During the following appointment, patients will have their teeth prepared for their new veneers. Around this time the patient will receive temporary veneers while their brand-new veneers are crafted.
This preparation stage involves shaping each tooth to provide the best fit for the new overlays. A good dentist will aim to remove as little of the actual tooth surface as possible in order to try and help maintain a strong support for your veneer and a healthy level of tooth enamel.Finally, the day will come when your brand-new veneers are ready, during this appointment your new teeth will be bonded to the tooth, providing you with a smile that you can be proud of. The full process will normally take up to about 2 weeks and will leave you with a smile that you can show off to the world around you.
What Could go Wrong?
Dental veneers are not a high-risk treatment, especially when we consider that the process used doesn’t require the removal of teeth. The main concern of veneers comes in the form of root canals. If a dentist begins to ready your teeth for your veneers and comes across a bad tooth, this can lead to further dental work often in the form of root canal treatment. While this may be of concern to patients, it is always part of our consultation process for each patent to have a complete dental check in order to assess the quality of a person's teeth.
This is often more than enough assurance that a patient's teeth will be able to undergo treatment without any complications. Once your veneers have been applied, it is rare to find any reoccurring problems. One way to help prevent problems in the future is to brush and floss your teeth daily to keep your veneers clean.
Occasionally we see broken or cracked veneers, but this is quite abnormal and doesn't occur unless the veneers have been subject to excessive force or some form of trauma. If you experience a broken veneer, it’s important to see your dentist as soon as possible.
Avoid Cheaper Dental Veneers Abroad
Finding the best deal for your dental work will no doubt play a large part in your decision as to who you get to complete your general and cosmetic dentistry. A common occurrence for many people in the UK is to look for dental work abroad, as the price of treatment can be much cheaper than it is here. In the case of dental veneers, this form of treatment can be found cheaper in several different countries. However, you’ll find that this cheaper treatment is also of significantly lower quality, and you’ll need to have more dental work in the future to rectify the problems caused.
Sometimes paying less in the short term can have huge implications in the long run and can backfire causing a variety of dental problems which can have consequences. The process for fixing the problem can also be much more difficult as obtaining dental information for foreign treatment providers can often be very difficult. It’s always best to stick to a trusted, experienced provider for your dental work.
Veneers or Braces: Which One is Best for Me?
A question that frequently gets asked is which treatment is the right one for you, especially in the smile makeover range of treatments. More commonly, the decision comes down to veneers or braces. While both have benefits there are often a few factors which will help to tell you which form of treatment will suit you the best.
Ultimately it is your decision as to what you want to be done to your teeth, however, we find the best way to really give a smile a cosmetic boost is to come into one of our dental practices and to speak to the professionals. Years of training allow our dentists to give you their best advice and help you to make an educated decision as to what will suit you the best.
