March Newsletter

Spring is just around the corner and wedding season fast approaching, the days are getting longer, brighter and warmer. Our March newsletter hopes to follow this by shining some light on what we can expect in the coming months at MSC. For a brighter smile this Easter, read some of our helpful tips and tricks to dental hygiene below.

Looking Forward to Easter

Easter Smile

Easter is known for it's many chocolatey treats, such as chocolate eggs. During this time of year, it can be quite easy for adults and children both to consume too much chocolate. To counteract this, why not try more healthier alternatives during your Easter egg hunts? Toys are a much healthier reward during a egg hunt, another option you could try is fruit or sugar-free gum.

If you are going to have chocolate during Easter, try and limit consumption to meal times only, as this helps the mouth fight against the negative impacts of the sugar contained in the chocolate. Brushing your teeth 30 minutes after your meal is the best way of preventing problems that could occur. Snacking on food means your teeth aren't able to recover and neutralise the acid in your mouth, and as such it should be avoided as much as possible.

It's important for both children and adults to maintain good dental health during Easter. The best way to keep on top of the dental health of your family is to book an appointment at your local Midlands Smile Centre dental practice.

Simple Tips and Tricks

Tips and Tricks

Many people may not realise that there is a mountain of ways in which a person can dramatically improve their dental hygiene. We hope to provide here at least one or two new ways to help you when it comes to keeping your teeth clean.

  • Change your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months. Bacteria can collect in the brush head and can then be transferred back onto the teeth.
  • Use a straw when drinking sugary drinks. This reduces the amount of sugar to your front teeth causing less damage.
  • Drink milk, as its full of calcium which helps repair and maintain your teeth.
  • Don't forget to clean your tongue as well as your teeth in order to remove unwanted bacteria.
